In the early morning of March 19, a wildfire was reported in Sunshine Canyon, southwest of Gunbarrel. The fire stretches some 30 to 50 acres, moving south. As of 7am, it was zero-percent contained.

Gunbarrel residents reported a noticeable haze, though there have been no pre-evacuation or evacuation orders. More than 1,000 homes in west Boulder have already been evacuated, however, with pre-evacuation orders issued to homes and businesses near West Pearl in the downtown area.

Possible winds could affect firefighters’ ability to combat the wildfire, though, as gusts of up 20 mph are anticipated for today.
